According to the Macon County Sheriffs Office, they had responded to various calls at this location in recent weeks.
Ten firemen went to the scene, along with Engine 2, Tanker 22, and Truck 5. After the fire was under control, they checked for hot spots, and then went back to the bedroom with the most damage and continued to wet a pile of smoldering clothes.
The fire is still under investigation and Chief Keith Scruggs said, “At this point, all I will say is that this fire is definitely of suspicious origin.”
