The Tennessee Highway Patrol, Macon County Sheriffs Office and other emergency agencies answered a 3:34 p.m. call on Wednesday afternoon to a one-car crash involving four individuals. An extrication unit was also utilized at the scene.
THP Trooper Johnnie Rodgers stated that Brittany Dicken, of Lafayette, was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am on the Akersville Road when she lost control, ran off the roadway and slammed into a tree on the passenger’s side where 25-year-old Abraham Escalante was riding.
“There were also two passengers in the backseat,” said Trooper Rodgers. “One was 14 and the other was only two years old.”
Air Evac wouldn’t fly because of weather and all four patients were brought by ground ambulance to Macon County General Hospital. Then Escalante and Ms. Dicken were carried to Vanderbilt. She has since been released.
Those responding to the scene were the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Macon County Sheriffs Office, Macon County EMS, Macon County Rescue Squad and the Macon County Chronicle.
