Page 2 of 2On March 10, 2014 and at the request of District Attorney General Tommy Thompson, TBI began an investigation into an assault that occurred on Douglas Lane in Lafayette. A man identified as Andy Wayne Goad, age 33 of Pleasant Shade, TN, had a romantic relationship with his girlfriend for two years until December 2013. Goad believed the reason why they
broke up was because of another man.
On March 10, 2014, Goad went to his ex‐girlfriend’s house on Douglas Lane and entered her home where he found another male and his ex‐girlfriend. At that time, he assaulted both of them with a wooden club. Both the male and Goad’s ex‐girlfriend suffered serious bodily injuries.
On March 11, 2014, Goad was arrested and charged with one count of Especially Aggravated Burglary, two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
He was released from the Macon County Jail after making his $25,000 bond.
Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons made this comment regarding his reasons for turning the case over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation:
“With all of the parties involved, I felt like it would be a conflict of interest for our department to investigate this case, so I called District Attorney Thompson and requested that he ask the TBI to investigate the case.”
