|The Oppressed and the Oppressor|
|Tuesday, February 9, 2010|
“So I returned and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforters; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforters” (Ecclesiastes 4:1). Do me a favor and read this passage again. Are you surprised to find this in the Bible? Sounds like today, doesn’t it? it is about the oppressed and the oppressor. Human nature hasn’t changed much. The world has always had its oppressors. And where there are oppressors there will be the oppressed. What are the oppressed doing in the above verse? They are shedding tears. Why? They had no comforters, but on the side of the oppressors there was power. Still the same.
The politicians in D.C. recently voted themselves over a four-thousand-dollar misc per year. Prior to t his, the same selfish and corrupt deviates voted to withhold from senior citizens a cost of living raise for two years. Who are oppressors? Who are the oppressed? We know the answer to both questions, don’t we?
Now to further see a picture of the oppressed and the oppressors from a Biblical standpoints, note verses 13, 14 from the same mentioned chapter (5) from Ecclesiasts: “Better is a poor and wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished, for out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becometh poor.” Modern times have produced oppressors who have come out of prison to win offices and use their power to reduce the people under them to poverty.
It seems that there are those elected officials today who refuse to admonished and who believe they can ride roughshed over others- yea, from the city halls to the White House. but when they are fully exposed and their names appear in print, just maybe they will be easier to be entreaded. And this will happen, you can take it to the bank. Elected officials reap what they sow.
