This lawn mower was stolen out of Kentucky and sold to a Macon County resident.

When the Macon County and Allen County, Kentucky, Sheriff’s Departments began working together last week on a case involving a stolen lawn mower, they had no idea that the theft trail would lead officers to discover an active meth lab.

According to MCSD Detective Donnie Crawford, his department became aware that a riding lawn mower, thought to be stolen out of Kentucky, was located at a residence on King Hill Road in Red Boiling Springs.

“Myself and Sheriff Mark Gammons arrived at the residence and spoke to the home owner,” Detective Crawford stated. “She said that her husband had purchased the lawn mower from an individual in Kentucky. We ran the numbers from the mower through our system and it came back that it was stolen out of Allen County, Kentucky.”

After contacting Allen County Sheriff’s Office Detective Mike Wilson with the name of the individual the RBS residents bought the lawn mower from, Detective Wilson was able to obtain a search warrant.

“Upon executing the search warrant, Allen County officers discovered a meth lab and other stolen property,” Detective Crawford explained. “There were over 80 components used to manufacture methamphetamine at the scene.”

Chris Andrews and Misty Summers, formally of Macon County, were arrested at their Allen County, KY, residence. Both Andrews and Summers have had a history of manufacturing methamphetamine.

The riding lawn mower and a chain saw, another item found to be stolen out of Kentucky and purchased by a Macon County resident, were recently returned to Allen County authorities.
