High School Athletes Honored at Basketball Banquet PDF Print E-mail

Several high School athletes were honored at the annual Red Boiling Springs Bulldog Basketball Banquet on Monday, March 10.

After an introduction by Wally Etheridge and an invocation by Danny Knight, students, parents and faculty were invited to share a potluck dinner before awards were presented by Red Boiling Springs boys coach Michael Owens and girls coach Larry White.

For the boys’ team (7-21), awards were presented in the following order:

  • Team Leading Scorer – Wes Grace (12.9 average)
  • Team Leading Rebounder – Jake Stiles
  • Most Assists – Wes Grace & Jake Stiles
  • Most Steals – Jake Stiles (51)
  • Most Deflections – Shelton Watson (68)
  • Most Charges Taken – Shelton Watson & Jake Stiles
  • Best Field Goal % - Shelton Watson & Jordan Grace
  • Best Free Throw % - Wes Grace (85.7%)
  • Most Three-Pointers Made – Allen Cook (35)
  • Best Three-Point % - Allen Cook (33.3%)
  • Best Defensive Player – Brylee Smith
  • Dedication Award – Wes Grace
  • Hustle Award – Brylee Smith & Ranon Etheridge
  • Most Improved Player – Isaiah Washington & Allen Cook
  • Spirit Award – Andrew Mullinix
  • Coach’s Award – Wes Grace, Bryson Tuck & Ranon Etheridge
  • Weightlifting Award – Brylee Smith
  • Scholastic Award – Jordan Grace
  • J.V. M.V.P. – Jordan Meador

At the finish of the 2007-2008 basketball season, the Red Boiling Springs boys basketball team earned the title of ‘Most Improved in District,’ finishing fifth in the district tournament.

  • Team Leader in Assists – Tess Copas & Layce Colter
  • Best Free Throw % - Layce Colter (81.8%)
  • Team Leading Rebounder – Ashton Gentry & Shannon Sleeper
  • Team Leading Three-Point Shooter – Layce Colter
  • Team Leader in Steals – Tess Copas
  • Scholastic Award – Paige Ferguson (98.0)
  • Most Improved Player – Skylar Aguilar
  • Top Defensive Player – Shannon Sleeper & Skylar Aguilar
  • Most Dedicated Player – Mackenzie Painter & Ashton Gentry
  • Miss Hustle Award – Shannon Sleeper & Skylar Aguilar
  • MVP – Ashton Gentry

At the finish of the 2007-2008 basketball season, the Red Boiling Springs girls basketball team earned a fourth place spot in the District 7A tournament and came in 4th in the Ladies Invitational of the South.
