La Tia restaurant owner Terry Rodriguez contacted the Chronicle office on Friday, May 8th, to formally announce that she has sold the business to new owners, formally of Virginia, last month.

Rodriguez said the new owners, who now call Lafayette home, will be keeping the restaurant’s menu items the same, including the Mexican, American Breakfast and country cookin’ selections her customers have come to know and love over the last eight years.

While the menu will stay the same, Rodriguez commented that customers will be seeing some new faces, as seven former employees were let go, replaced by the new owner’s family members.

She also added that the new owners regret having to replace her former employees.

Rodriguez, who opened the restaurant in 2001, said she will still be operating her bail bond agency and is thankful for the community support La Tia’s has received since its Macon County premiere.

“I’d just like to thank Macon County and all of my customers for their support over the last eight years,” she remarked. “Macon County has really been good to me, and it’s been a pleasure doing business with everyone.”

Rodriguez, who plans on remaining in Macon County, said she’ll miss the interaction with her customers the most.

“Macon County is my home and I love it here,” she said. “I can’t imagine ever leaving. It’s been a real joy seeing my customers and catching up with everyone each day.”
