Macon County Grand Jury Hands Down Indictments PDF Print E-mail

The Macon County Grand Jury met on Monday, February 6thbefore Judge David E. Durham, and thirty-seven individuals were indicted for their crimes.

Several indictments on drug-related issues were returned including the charges that were filed on September 8th, 2011 by the Macon County Sheriffs Department and the Red Boiling Springs Police Department against David N. Alsup and Daniel G. Bravender, after officers received information that the two men were involved in cultivating marijuana plants.

Officers executed a search warrant at the men’s Cedar Street residence in Red Boiling Springs, where a “grow room” was discovered, that had recently harvested a crop and a second concealed grow room was also found. Once inside the house, 60 small plants were confiscated along with a quantity of marijuana in the freezer that had been previously harvested.

According to Bill Cothron, 60 more plants were also discovered, some over 6-feet tall with a total of 120 plants recovered, and an estimated one-pound of processed marijuana during the investigation. Alsup and Bravender were arrested on charges of manufacturing narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule VI drug. Alsup’s bond was set at $100,000 and Bravender was $200,000.

Other indictments include:

Chad I. Carter – driving while license revoked; drivers to exercise due care; duty to render aid and give information; driver failed to stop at the scene of an accident involving injury.

David Foster Carter – theft of property $10,000-$60,000.

Ronald L.Carter – aggravated burglary; theft of property $1,000-$10,000.

Kayla Ann Cook – underage driving while impaired; drivers to exercise due care-inability to control vehicle; simple possession/casual exchange; possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia uses & activities.

Donald L. Counts – speeding; DUI second offense; driving while license suspended; implied consent; simple possession/casual exchange.

Tondwin R. Curry – habitual traffic off-driving while restriction in effect.

Joshua Debruyn – initiate manufacture of methamphetamine; possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia.

Rayburn Dwight Dickens, Jr. – theft of property $500-$1,000.

Jerry C. Doss – aggravated burglary; theft of property $500-$1,000; vandalism $500-$1,000-attempt; employ firearm with intent to go armed-dangerous felony.

Jerry C. Doss – theft of merchandise-shoplifting.

Randy J. Gravins – speeding; financial responsibility law; evading arrest flight-vehicle.

Rachel Beth Gregory – DUI first offense; open container.

Monica Sue Harrison – initiate manufacture of methamphetamine; possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia uses & activities; promoting methamphetamine manufacture.

Monica Sue Harrison – theft of merchandise-shoplifting.

Marty Justin Head – possession unlawful drug paraphernalia uses & activities; simple possession/casual exchange.

Marty Justin Head – aggravated burglary; theft up to $500.

Troy L. Hewitt – possession unlawful drug paraphernalia.

Terry C. Jenkins – aggravated burglary; theft of property; vandalism; employ firearm with intent to go armed-dangerous felony.

Brandon S. Stewart – statutory rape.

Brandon S. Stewart – violation of order of protection/restraining order.

Jimmy Lewis Summers – aggravated burglary; theft of property $1,000-$10,000; vandalism up to $500.

Daniel Wilson – promoting methamphetamine manufacture.

Sixto Luis Zaragoza – DUI fourth; driving while license revoked; reckless endangerment-vehicle/felony; implied consent; open container.
