An elderly Scottsville, Kentucky woman lost her life due to a violent traffic accident on Saturday afternoon, April 7th that occurred on Highway 52 East, in front of Coley’s Market.

THP Sgt. Ashley Mercer, who investigated the wreck, stated that 90-year-old Ina Goad was driving a 1991 Chevy S10 pickup when she pulled out from Coley’s parking lot directly into the path of an east bound Ford Fairlane, driven by 69-year-old Jamie Gerald Witt of Lavergne, Tennessee, who struck the drivers side of her truck.

An emergency responder along with Dr. Odunusi, who were both in the vicinity of the accident when it occurred around 12:30 p.m., said that Ms. Goad’s vehicle was on its side and she was partially ejected. Since she was unresponsive, they pulled her out the window and immediately began CPR until the Macon County EMS arrived. By standers pushed the truck back on its wheels so it wouldn’t fall on those who were administering aid to the woman, who died from her injuries.

Mr. Witt was transported by ambulance to Macon County General Hospital for treatment.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol, Macon County Sheriffs Department, Macon County Emergency Medical Services, Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County Rescue Squad and the Macon County Chronicle responded to the crash site.
