Investigating Officer Henry Behr said that Velda Jones, of Lafayette, was driving a 2005 Buick when she pulled into a parking place in front of the jewelry store around 5:30 p.m. Unfortunately she went to apply the brakes and instead she hit the gas sending her vehicle on the sidewalk and into the storefront window. “Luckily Mrs. Jones nor anyone in the store was injured,” said Officer Behr. “But the ambulance service did respond to the site and Ms. Jones was checked out.” Mr. Stanley Johnson, owner of the business, said he estimated the damage to be in the thousands. No charges were filed. |
