|K-9 ‘Gordy’ Takes Down First Suspect|

Macon County Sheriff’s Department K-9 ‘Gordy,’ took down his first suspect, 36-year-old Jeffery Wayne King, of Lafayette, on Monday, October 29.
King, who had felony warrants out on him for theft in Red Boiling Springs, was apprehended by Gordy after he ran out of a tobacco barn in an attempt to escape custody.
Gordy also alerted his handler, Sergeant Michael Veatch, that King was in possession of marijuana.
King was charged with simple possession, driving under the influence, evading arrest, criminal trespassing, vandalism and ATV in roadway. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on December 5, 2012.
Gordy is 15-months old and joined the Macon County Sheriff’s Department on August 13, 2012. He graduated from Midway K-9 Academy on September 29, 2012 and became drug certified on October 19, 2012.
