Approximately 20 law enforcement personnel from the Macon County Sheriffs Department, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Tennessee National Guard confiscated 3,000 marijuana plants scattered throughout Macon County following a fly-over on Monday, June 16.
According to Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons, approximately 300 of those marijuana plants were seized from one farm. Samples of the confiscated marijuana plants were sent to a Nashville crime lab to be tested and the remaining plants were burned with jet fuel in a field near the Macon County Sheriffs Department. So far, Gammons announced that one individual who was found to be growing marijuana will be presented to an October Grand Jury. “We do this once or twice a year,” Gammons said. “We’ll be flying over the rest of the county in the next few days.” |
