Detective Keith Tillman, of the Lafayette Police Department, arrested 29-year-old Casey Wayne Looper, of Old Highway 52 in Westmoreland, on April 25, for his involvement in the February 14 theft of a 18-foot race trailer that was stolen from Doyle Pruitt’s Ellington Drive Home.
As previously reported in the Macon County Chronicle, after the theft on February 14, Doyle was searching the internet for a replacement on April 3, when his stolen trailer turned up for sale. He contacted the Lafayette Police Department and Detective Tillman was able to get an address in Bradley County, Tennessee and he contacted the Sheriffs Office in that county.
Chief Stacy Gann, Detective Tillman and Doyle Pruitt traveled to Cleveland, Tenn., the next morning and were able to identify the trailer as belonging to Mr. Pruitt and he took possession and returned home with it.
After recovering the trailer, Detective Tillman gathered more information and after completing his investigation he arrested Casey Looper and transported him to the Macon County Jail.
He is charged with theft over $1,000 and unlawful possession of a weapon (3 counts). Bond is set at $8,000 and a court date is set for Wednesday, May 22.
