Suspect Escapes in Attempted Robbery of Local Gas Station PDF Print E-mail

At approximately 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, Oct. 18, the Lafayette Police Department was notified that an armed robbery was in progress at the Marathon gas station located at 212 Hwy 52 Bypass East, in Lafayette.

According to investigating officer Chief Jerry Dallas, the clerk stated that a white, male in his late 50’s or early 60’s entered the convenience store with a pair of panty hose over his face, approached her with a large butcher knife and demanded all of the money in the register.

The clerk managed to escape through the store’s drive-thru window and called police to report the incident.

During the clerk’s escape, the armed suspect fled the scene.

Following their investigation, police determined that nothing had been taken from the store.

Police are continuing their investigation into the case, and anyone with further information is urged to contact the Lafayette Police Department.
