On Thursday, February 5th, Nashville’s WSMV Channel 4 weather team will be hosting its public service program ‘Surviving the Storm’ right here in Macon County.
On the one-year anniversary of the tornado that devastated much of Macon County, the news team will be broadcasting segments from the Macon County High School auditorium at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The actual ‘Surviving the Storm’ program will take place at 7 p.m. in the auditorium with free gifts given to the first hundred or so in attendance.
Sponsored by the Citizens Bank Gold Club and Macon County High School, the program will offer an informative look at tornados, how they form and what to do to protect your loved ones and property in the event of a tornado.
Activities, such as, weather experiments, the debunking of weather-related myths and a question & answer segment will also be included in the program.
“The program is a public service for people in attendance,” said Citizens Bank Gold Club LaRue Polston. “It’s something that we can all learn from, while remembering that day one year ago, and the seriousness of what we all went through.”
