Body Found in Pond PDF Print E-mail

On Sunday, March 28th, at 12:00 P.M., the Macon County Sheriffs Department responded to the scene of a possible DOA on Murray Hill Lane, here in Lafayette, where they discovered the body of a 20-year-old female in a nearby pond.

The woman, was has been identified as Misty Scott, was discovered by her husband, Cody Scott, who went looking for his missing wife, after an alleged domestic disturbance earlier in the day.

New Zion Missionary Baptist Celebrates 100th Anniversary PDF Print E-mail

The members of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, located on Williams Road, here in Macon County, were all smiles on Sunday, March 21, as they celebrated their 100th Anniversary. Pastor J.B. Shoulders graciously welcomed the large crowd to the 11:00 a.m. service, which was followed by a potluck lunch, reading of the church history by Chris Phillips and singing at 2:00 p.m.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jerry W. Stevens, of Scottsville, Kentucky, was charged with theft of property under $500, aggravated burglary and vandalism after confessing to the January 2010 robbery of Dixon’s Market, located on Rocky Mound Rd. in Westmoreland.

Senator Mae Beavers Announces Decision to Run for Re-Election PDF Print E-mail

Senator Mae Beavers, surrounded by her Senate colleagues, announced on Thursday, March 11, that she is running for another term for the State Senate seat representing Wilson, Cannon, Clay, DeKalb, Macon, Smith, Sumner, and Trousdale counties.  The decision came after much deliberation and prayerful consideration.  There had been discussion that Senator Beavers could possibly be running for the Wilson County Mayor position; however, at the insistence of many colleagues and a multitude of constituents, Beavers has declared her desire to continue her work in serving the people of the 17th District.
