The Red Boiling Springs City Council met in regular session last Thursday, August 12th, and ended with one less council member at the table, who abruptly exited City Hall during a heated discussion involving water and sewer rate increases.

Red Boiling Springs Vice Mayor John Cook presided over the meeting in the absence of City Mayor Kenneth Hollis, and it was a motion made by councilman Billy Joe Carver that led to the debate between the two elected officials and Carver’s unexpected departure.

The State of Tennessee Fire Prevention Codes Enforcement Office recently made a general inspection of apartments owned by Red Boiling Springs Mayor Kenneth Hollis, after a life safety complaint was filed regarding several apartment buildings owned by Hollis.

The State Primary and Macon County General Election reached it’s climax on Thursday, August 5th, 2010, and after several hotly contested races at the local level, which have absorbed much of the attention this summer, Mark Gammons, Shelvy Linville, and Melinda Ferguson were victors once again, reclaiming their offices for four more years.

Despite high interest, out of 13,551 registered voters, only 5,398 voted unofficially, for a 39.83 percentage of Macon Countians that utilized their right to decide on who fills the offices here in our county and the State of Tennessee.
