Macon County Says Goodbye to Terry Polston PDF Print E-mail

Terry Wayne Polston passed away on Thursday, October 22nd, 2009, at his home here in Lafayette, after battling deadly stomach cancer for over eight months. Diagnosed in early February, he had surgery shortly after, but decided to forego any treatments, preferring to live a few more good months, without being sick. Born on June 6, 1952 in Macon County, he was the son of Johnnie Othell and Martha Brummitt Polston.

'No Shacks Wanted' - Commissioners Allow Property Rezone for Apartments & Tire Shop PDF Print E-mail

County Commissioners voted to allow the rezoning of two pieces of property during last Monday night’s meeting, following the public hearing held at the onset of the Legislative Body Session.

A couple of citizens spoke in opposition to the F.D. Fuqua property being rezoned, in order for the owner to be able to build a tri-plex apartment on the land, at 824 Wixtown Road.  “I’d just like it to be zoned so I can have a little more income,” adding that he wouldn’t build shacks or add junk trailers.

Merchants & Guests Enjoy Afternoon of Fall Funfest PDF Print E-mail

There was no shortage of entertainment to watch or events to take part in on Saturday, October 24th, as the First Annual Fall Funfest was held on the public square here in Lafayette. Live musical acts were featured as well as activities for all ages, including plenty of good food at Gibson’s Café and McClard’s Gifts.

Armed Robbery on Stinson Road PDF Print E-mail

Two suspects were arrested in Allen County, Kentucky, on charges of aggravated robbery and assault after allegedly committing armed robbery on West Stinson Rd. in Macon County on Sunday, October 25th.

Macon County Sheriffs Deputy Matt Looper responded to a call at 88 West Stinson Rd. Monday night, after a male victim reported being robbed at gunpoint in a vehicle he was a passenger in.

Fall Funfest on the Square This Saturday, October 24th PDF Print E-mail

To celebrate the season, merchants on the Lafayette Square are extending an invitation to everyone to join them for the first-ever Fall Funfest on the Square set for Saturday, October 24th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During the afternoon event, a variety of fall-inspired activities are scheduled at no cost for children and adults, including hayrides, storytelling, face painting, apple bobbing, photos with your favorite fall characters, musical entertainment, pumpkin painting and a Halloween costume contest.

In the spirit of the season of giving, $500 in cash will also be given away to present drawing and contest winners, and each of the local businesses participating in the event will offer special Fall Funfest deals and discounts to consumers.
