RBS Mayor, Four Council Members Refuse Attendance of Special Called Flood Meeting PDF Print E-mail

Red Boiling Springs residents and business owners filled the seats at City Hall for a special called meeting last Thursday, May 5, requested by City Council members John Cook and Terry Newberry to discuss the effects of the recent flood on the city’s utilities, parks and assets, assess the damage and hear from Senator Mae Beavers, Representative Terri Lynn Weaver and County Mayor Shelvy Linville on financial recovery options.

But while seats were filled by concerned citizens, it was the empty seats of city council members Billy Joe Carver, Willie Brown and Bobby Etheridge, and City Mayor Kenneth Hollis, that caused the biggest discussion of all, as it was announced the four elected officials had ‘refused’ to attend.

A single vehicle rollover wreck claimed the life of a Macon County woman on Tuesday afternoon, May 4th, 2010, on State Highway 52 West approximately one quarter of a mile east of the Rocky Mound intersection.

Over 75 bridges and at least 371 miles of roads were affected by the flood waters that swept through Macon County on Saturday, May 2nd, and with an estimated cost of $38.7 million already, President Obama and Governor Bredesen declared our county a major disaster area on Saturday night, May 8th, which brings the total number of counties to 42, with more declarations anticipated in the days to come.

Meth Manufacturing Arrest Made on Carter Branch Rd. PDF Print E-mail

Forty-eight-year-old Sherrie Lynn Chapman was arrested and charged with manufacturing of narcotics, possession of a Schedule II drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of probation and methamphetamine precursor on Thursday, April 29, by Deputy K-9 Handler Donnie Crawford and Sergeant Ira Meador of the Macon County Sheriffs Department.
