Civil Lawsuit Filed Against RBS Mayor Hollis PDF Print E-mail

The following civil lawsuit was filed in Macon County Circuit Court on February 26, 2010, against Red Boiling Springs Mayor Kenneth Hollis, requesting a jury trial to award the plaintiff actual and compensatory damages of not less than $300,000 and punitive and/or special damages of not less than $500,000.
The civil lawsuit follows criminal charges of sexual battery and sexual battery by an authority figure brought against Hollis on February 23, 2010.

Affidavit of Complaint for Sexual Battery Filed Against RBS Mayor PDF Print E-mail

An affidavit of complaint was filed against Red Boiling Springs Mayor Kenneth Hollis on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, accusing the politician and business owner of sexual battery and sexual battery by an authority figure.

Hollis is currently serving a probationary period, ending in February of 2011, after being granted Pre-trial diversion for theft and misconduct charges filed against him in February 2008.

The '08 sealed indictment, handed down by a Grand Jury, presented that Hollis "between March 2006 through August 2007, did unlawfully, intentionally, and knowingly, with intent to obtain a benefit or to harm another, committed an act related to the servants office or employment that constitutes an unauthorized exercise of official power or received a benefit not otherwise authorized by law."

Mayor Hollis was accused of using city property to benefit his own construction company and hardware store. The politician owns and operates a hardware store and several apartment complexes in Macon County. 

The recent affidavit, accusing Hollis of sexual battery, reads as follows:

“When I was 17 years old, on November 30, 2008, my boyfriend (name omitted) and I rented an apartment from Kenneth Hollis in Red Boiling Springs, Macon County, Tennessee, for my boyfriend, me and my baby to live in. My name, and my boyfriend’s name, were on the lease, but I did not sign it because I was only 17. A few days later, during the day, while my boyfriend was at work, Kenneth Hollis came into my apartment and put both of his hands on my chest and groped my breasts and said, ‘Oh, they’re so big, let me see them, you know you want me to play with ‘em.’

Arrest Made in Public Square Hit & Run PDF Print E-mail

Fifty-one-year old Ricky Lynn Harp, of 786 Payton Creek Road, in Lafayette, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash and failing to report a crash, on Tuesday, February 16th, by Officer Rejena Parker, of the Lafayette Police Department, in connection with the hit-and-run incident on the Public Square, Tuesday night, January 19, 2010 around 7:30 p.m.

Patty Tomlinson Sentenced to 8-Year Prison Term PDF Print E-mail

Twenty-eight-year-old Patty Gail Tomlinson, a former employee at a Trousdale County daycare, was convicted of aggravated sexual battery and sentenced to a prison term of eight years, during a Trousdale County Circuit Court hearing last week.

Tomlinson, who was arrested in February 2009, pled guilty to the charge after allegations that she had an ongoing, sexual relationship with a young boy.

Body of Missing Woman Found PDF Print E-mail

The Lafayette Police Department found the body of a 61-year-old female, on Wednesday morning, February 17, around 11:30 a.m., after she had been reported missing the previous Friday.

The family of the Macon County woman, identified as Patsy Gail Bates, contacted the LPD on Friday, February the 12 reporting that Mrs. Bates was last seen around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday night the 11th. Officer Garrett Flatt was dispatched to an apartment on Freeman Street to fill out a missing person’s report, and an investigation immediately ensued.
