The Welcome Center is key to the successful revitalization of the tourism trade and will serve an integral role in increasing tourism in Macon County.

It will also synchronize economic and community development into a single location to provide information to residents, visitors and individuals / industry looking to relocate to our community. The facility will house the Macon County Chamber of Commerce, contain a community / civic meeting room with kitchen and provide an office for the Historical Society and a display space for the Macon County Arts Council.

Forty-seven-year-old Jackie Dale Wright Jr., of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, June 6, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Jackson County, Tennessee.

The accident, which occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m., involved a white van driven by Martin Overstreet of Castalian Springs.

According to the accident report, Jackie Dale was traveling north on highway 151 when the white van, traveling south on 151, crossed over the double line and into Jackie Dale’s lane, striking his motorcycle.
