According to the official election results released by the Macon County Election Commission on Monday, May 4th, electing a city mayor and three city council members in the Red Boiling Springs City Election held Saturday, April 25th, incumbent Kenneth Hollis carried the majority of the votes with 266, with Ray Bilbrey tallying 111, and write-in candidate Mike Silvio received four.

Case of Novel H1N1 Virus Confirmed in Tennessee PDF Print E-mail

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Health has received notification from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that the initial case of the novel H1N1 virus identified in the state has been confirmed positive. The initial case was identified by the department in Williamson County on April 29.
 Starting this week, the state public health lab will be able to confirm cases of the virus for the state with the use of flu kits provided by federal officials.

Letter Carriers Food Drive to be Held Saturday, May 9th PDF Print E-mail

Middle Tennessee Letter Carriers are asking their postal customers for food, not because they’re hungry, but because they want to help feed those who are. The Letter Carriers Food Drive will be held on Saturday May 9th, and residents from Middle Tennessee Communities are being asked to participate by placing non-perishable food items in specials bags, which will be distributed by the carriers during the week of May 9th, along with the bags, customers will receive additional information. Carriers will collect the food donations as part of their rounds on Saturday. Proceeds will benefit Food Banks in their community. Second Harvest is the umbrella organization for this event.

First Service Held at Antioch Church Since Tornado PDF Print E-mail

The members of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located on Galen Road, here in Macon County, were all smiles on Sunday morning, May 3rd, as the first service was held in their new building, which was completely destroyed in the February 5th, 2008 EF4 tornado.
