Commissioners Vote No to Additional Debris Clean-Up |

Commissioners failed to pass a motion to institute Phases III and IV of the creek debris clean-up plan as presented by Phillip Dixon, District Conservationist, at May’s meeting of the Committee of the Whole. Phase III, as explained by Dixon, would add eight additional sites to the clean-up plan. Phase IV would expand the clean-up area from 50’ to 200’ on each site and would include two new sites. The projected cost to the county would be $75,000, according to Dixon. |

Two Airlifted After 3-Vehicle Crash |

A three-vehicle accident on May 7 occurred on Hwy 52, which left the highway blocked off for seven hours while the highway crew worked to remove the debris.
Kaitlin Kirby, 18 of Old Highway 52, Lafayette was driving an 2003 Infinity heading east bound on Hwy 52 and for some unknown reason, crossed over the center line and hit a blue mini van head on. The mini van, driven by Angela Lewis, 41 of Pleasant Shade was pushed to the right side of the road as the Infinity spun outwards. Traveling behind the mini van was Jerry Woodard, of Watertown driving a tractor-trailer full of scrap metal and two junk cars. |

Board of Regeants Takes Over Tri-County Vocational School |

The Tri-County Vocational School will begin to operate under the guidance of the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) beginning next fall, according to Director Jerry Spivey and TBR Vice-Chancellor James King, with tentative plans to turn the school into an instructional service center of the Tennessee Technology Center at Hartsville. “I am very excited about the potential to expand up there,” said Mae Banks, Director of the Hartsville Technology Center, “and begin offering students there dual credits.” |

Red Boiling Springs council members again put off appointing someone to fill the seat vacated by Billy Whitley in April, after City Attorney Jon Wells pointed out the possible unsuitability of the three people interested in the position: Kenethia Woodard, Billy Joe Carver, and RBS Assistant Police Chief Steve Evans.
