Lafayette Man Charged with Texting Sexual Photos to 11-year-old PDF Print E-mail

A Putnam County grand jury has indicted 21-year-old Daniel Kurtis Birdwell, of Lafayette, for sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to the Cookeville Herald Citizen, Birdwell met the 11-year-old girl in a chat room last fall, sent her sexual photos via text message and asked for photos from her.

One Arrested in RBS City Shop Burglary PDF Print E-mail

Red Boiling Springs Police have arrested 26-year-old Barry Randall Brandon, with burglary and theft of property in connection to the March 12th City Shop burglary.  

Brandon, who was a former inmate at the Macon County Sheriffs Department, worked in Red Boiling Springs while serving time and was out on parole at the time of the burglary.

Text Message Hoax Circulates Throughout County & State PDF Print E-mail

The Macon County Sheriffs Department received between 30 and 40 phone calls on Wednesday, March 19, after a text message, claiming that gangs are doing initiations by killing people at Walmart stores, circulated throughout the county.

Incidents at MCHS & MCJHS Send Teacher & Student to ER PDF Print E-mail

One teacher from Macon County Junior High School and one Macon County High School student were rushed to the Emergency Room on Friday afternoon, March 20th, after two separate disturbing incidents occurred.

According to MCJHS Student Resource Officer Troy Griggs, a special education CDC teacher was taken to the ER after ingesting a harmful chemical, later determined to be Germ-X Hand Sanitizer.

RBS City Shop Burglarized During City Council Meeting PDF Print E-mail

As the 7 p.m. Red Boiling Springs City Council meeting began on Thursday, March 12, two unidentifiable subjects chose not to attend - their only interest in city business being $15,000-worth of city equipment being housed in the City Shop building on College St.
A reported burglary of the City Chop was called into RBS Police by city supervisor Ray Long the following morning after he noticed evidence of a break-in and several missing items.
