11-Year-Old Girl Saves Cousin's Life PDF Print E-mail

Most people will remember November 4th, 2008, as the day we elected Barack Obama as the next President of the United States; but 10-year-old Jordyn Patterson will remember it as the day her cousin Kristyn Flippin, age 11, saved her life. 

Last Tuesday began as an ordinary day for these two young girls, as they went outside to play volleyball and soak up some of the last few rays of warm sunshine before cold weather sets in.

In the fitful breeze, a funnel of golden sycamore leaves spun around the girls as they hit the ball back and forth with their grandmother/great grandmother, Catherine Gregory, watching from the window.

Macon County Veterans Parade; Saluting Our Hometown Heroes PDF Print E-mail

The 2008 Macon County Veterans Day Parade will be held Tuesday, 11 November 2008.  

As in years past, the parade will kickoff at 11a.m. at the County Courthouse with an opening ceremony, the Laying of the Veteran’s Day Wreath, and the playing of Taps.

The parade will begin from the Courthouse immediately following the opening ceremony. From there, it will proceed from the Public Square to Old RBS Road to Highway 52, then West on Highway 52 to the Wal-Mart Parking Lot.

Line-up for those participating in the parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Key Park.
