Kirbytown Monument Honors Community Past PDF Print E-mail

 As the years go by it’s easy to let the past slip away from us, the memory of days gone fading with time like an old black and white photograph. But for those residing in the Kirbytown Community the past is now something they can celebrate everyday, thanks to a monument dedicated in memory of those who called it home during the 1940’s.

Inscribed with the names of those Kirbytown Community families that endured the Great Depression and World War II, the monument was purchased by William King, whose parents are also listed on the marble face of the 6-foot tall memorial.

  Twenty-seven-year-old Justin Michael Anderson of 8280 Old Highway 52 in Westmoreland, Tenn., was charged with vehicular homicide on Monday, Sept. 15, after being released from Sumner Regional Hospital for injuries he sustained in a single-vehicle wreck that took the life of his 40-year-old passenger and co-worker Charlie Freemon Hall.

Lafayette Cash Express Burglarized Over Night PDF Print E-mail

 Judy Gammons, assistant manager of Cash Express in Lafayette, arrived at work around 7 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, expecting to unlock the door and begin a typically busy day at the office.

But after finding that the office was flooded, the back of the building had been torn through and the company’s two safes were missing, Gammons quickly realized that her day would be anything but typical.

“I noticed that the floor was flooded and I called to tell the manager that the water heater had busted,” Gammons said. “And then I saw that the two safes were missing . . .”
