Mrs. Mary Neal Phillips of Greenbrier and a former resident of Dixon Springs died at the age of 82 at Northcrest Medical Center ER at 4:30 a.m. Friday morning, March 16, 2008 following a brief illness.

Mary Neal PhillipsBro. Paul Baggett officiated at the 1 p.m. Monday afternoon funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Phillips family lot in Dixon Springs Cemetery.
She was born Mary Neal McClard in the Ebenezer Community of Macon County on August 28, 1925 and was one of seven children of the late Lucy Dickens McClard and former Macon County Sherifff, Benton McClard.

Two brothers preceded her in death, Resper and Willard B. McClard.

On January 9, 1943 she was united in marriage to Jack Phillips of Dixon Springs who preceded her in death on May 2, 1968.

Two of their seven children preceded her in death, Jackie and Burmell Phillips. Mrs. Phillips retired as a home healthcare worker in 1980. She was a member of the Greenfield Missionary Baptist Church in Greenbrier.

Survivors include five children, Sue Wilson, Cathy Clouse and huxband Ronnie all of Greenbrier, Tom Phillips and wife Valinda of Gladdice, Mike Phillips and wife Ann of Ashland City, Sharon Sober of Springfield; four brothers, Bobby McClard and wife Elizabeth of Russellville, Ky., former Macon County Sheriff, Hollis McClard and wife Gay of Lafayette; eighteen grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
