Elder Fred Harrison Carr Sr., of Lafayette, died at the age of 89, Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Hendersonville Medical Center. Funeral services for Elder Fred Harrison Carr Sr. were conducted from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Elder Jackie Stagner officiating.

Fred CarrRaymond Carr, Freddie Carr, Leon Carr, Sandy Presley, Brian Whitnel, Kevin Miller, Tim Hicks, and Jeff Ellis served as pallbearers. Burial followed in the Eulia Cemetery with military honors.                          

Fred Harrison Carr Sr. was born in Macon County, TN, on August 15, 1918, one of seven siblings born to the late Russell Harrison and Pattie (Scruggs) Carr.  He married the former Annie Kate Dias on September 4, 1943, who preceded him in death on November 7, 1999.  Besides his wife and parents, son, Fred Carr Jr., brothers, Bobby Carr and A.W. Carr, sister, Dorothy Key preceded him in death.  He served his country in the United States Army during WWII; he was a farmer, a fifty year member of the Westmoreland Trammel Lodge # 436 and had worked for Capco for 15 years; he was a member of the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by, daughters, Linda Austin of Lafayette, Tenn., and Janice (Charles) Miller of Carthage, Tenn., sisters, Lena Hesson and Betty Cline both of Westmoreland, Tenn., brother, Oscar Carr of Gallatin, Tenn., grandchildren, Kim Kemp, Jan (Jeff) Ellis, Greg (Tracey) Austin, Todd (Kendra) Austin, and Julie (Brian) Whitnel, step-grandchildren, Kevin (Lesli) Miller, and Liz (Tim) Hicks, great-grandchildren, Austin and Macy Kemp, Tara and Brody Austin, Jade and Ben Ellis, step-great-grandchildren, Tristin and Peyton Hicks, and Kennedy Miller.  

The family requests memorials in the form of donations be made to the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church or the Knollwood Manor Annie Bulter Scholarship Fund.
