Graveside services for Mr. James William (Jim) Long, 64, of 1195 Underwood Rd. Lafayette, Tenn. were conducted Tuesday afternoon, June 17, 2008 at 1 p.m. from the Underwood Cemetery in Lafayette, Tenn. with his family & friends officiating. His family and friends served as pallbearers.
Jim passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn.
James was born in Indianapolis, Ind. on January 22, 1944, the son of the late William and Clara (McKinney) Long. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Long Carr. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Cottonwood Christian Church in Morgantown, Ind. He was also a Security Guard. He lived in Morgantown until moving to Lafayette, Tenn. in 1991. He was a man of many trades. He was loved by many and friend to all.
He is survived by: companion, April Long of Lafayette, Tenn., daughters, Anna Long of Wichita, Kan.; Mary Strevels of North Vermont, Ind.; sister, Mary Lou Sons of Nashville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, 1 that resided with him, Douglas Long, 1 great-grandchild due any day and several nieces and nephews.
