Jessie Witcher Smith, age 95, of Red Boiling Springs, TN passed away Thursday evening, August 2, 2012 at Knollwood Manor in Lafayette. Funeral services for Jessie Witcher Smith were conducted Sunday afternoon, August 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN with E.C. Meadows officiating. Interment followed in the Whitley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Canter, Tim Canter, Johnnie Davis, Scott Nordmark, Brennen Shelton and Patrick Coley. Jessie was born Monday, June 11, 1917 in Macon County, TN, one of three siblings born to the late Aubie and Mai Miller Witcher. On August 17, 1935, she married Vollie Floyd “Bob” Smith who preceded her in death on January 27, 1991 after sharing 55 years together. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Miller and brother, Guy Witcher. She was a homemaker and a member of the Red Boiling Springs Church of Christ. She is survived by: daughter and son-in-law, Peggy & Billy Canter, sons and daughters-in-law, Roger & Shelby Smith all of Red Boiling Springs, Ronald & Billie Smith of Lebanon, grand-daughters & their husbands, Leigh Ann (Scott) Nordmark of Lebanon, Chris Shelton of Canal Fulton, OH, Dawn (Johnnie) Davis of Knoxville, grandsons & their wives, Terry (Joyce) Canter, Tim (Joan) Canter all of Lafayette, great-grandchildren, Jill Coley, Cheryl Carver, Amanda Carver, April Davis, Trista Davis, Brennen & Austin Shelton, Jessica Canter & Brian Nordmark, great-great-grandchildren, Ryan Carver, Ellie Coley, Ryleigh Coley, Collin Carver & Parker Davis. Lassie May Ragland was born on December 23, 1922 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late William Owen Ragland, and Magnolia Ford Ragland. She was one of three siblings born to this family. Besides her parents; brothers, Rosco Ragland, and Leo Ragland also preceded her in death. Lassie was a homemaker. Marriage and children never came into Lassie’s circle of life.  
She carried the title “Aunt” very proudly though. Lassie spent a lot of her time taking care of her nieces and nephews. She was more of a grandmother figure to them than an aunt. Lassie was a member of Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church. On July 28, 2012, the Lord called Lassie home. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews her many friends, but our loss is Heavens gain. Lassie is survived by; Nieces and Nephews, Wilma Glover, Gail (Roy) Waldrop all of Lafayette, Sharon (Don) Smith of Indiana, Brenda (Dexter) Freeman, Randy (Wendy) Ragland, Teresa (Elder Terry) Austin all of Lafayette, TN, Elder Gerald (Susan) Ragland of Pleasant Shade, TN, Joyce (Calvin) Turner of Gallatin, several Great Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral Services for Lassie Ragland were conducted on Monday, July 30 at 3PM from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Gerald Ragland, Calvin Turner, and Brother Bryan Morgan officiating. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were, Jill Della Fave, Gina Miller, Allison Cox, Amanda Ragland, and Cindy Stinson.  Bryan Morgan, Brad Morgan, Johnny Austin, Joey Austin, Kevin Ragland, Joshua Ragland, Patrick Austin, and Justin Smith served as Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Drury Cemetery with Elder Terry Austin officiating.

Lorene Hannah Kemp was born on April 23, 1931 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Bodie Gregory and Minnie Jane Gregory. She was one of five siblings born to this union. Lorene grew-up in the Old Bottom Area in Macon County. She was married at a young age to Jurl C. Kemp and they shared two sons, and one daughter. Besides her husband and parents; son, Barry Michael Kemp, brothers, Audie Gregory, W.P. Gregory, and J.D. “Dude” Gregory also preceded her in death. Lorene worked for Form-Fit Rogers for several years. Later on she went to work at Carter’s Automotive; she retired there after twenty-plus years of service. She was like most women; Lorene could spend the day shopping at the Malls or the Flea Markets. Listening to music was something she enjoyed, especially George Jones and Dolly Parton. Lorene had a green thumb when it came to growing flowers. Her favorite pass time was talking on the phone to friends and family. She was close to her brothers and sister and loved them very much. Lorene loved her family and grandchildren, but granddaughter, Ashley had a special place in her heart. She was saved and a member of Union Camp Missionary Baptist Church and also attended Old Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. On Thursday, August 2, 2012 the Lord called Lorene home. Lorene will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Lorene is survived by; Daughter, Pamela (Brian) Naramore, Son, Gary (Paula) Kemp, Sister, Ovie Wilburn, Grandchildren, Ashley Naramore, Jamie (Mary) Kemp, Sherry (Chad) Swindle, and Amy (Jeff) Harper. Funeral services for Lorene were conducted on Sunday, August 5th at 2 pm from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Terry Austin officiating. Interment followed in the Nelson McDonald Cemetery.

Ricky Curtis Cothron, of Lafayette, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 26th, at the age of 61 years and 20 days. Funeral services with military honors for Ricky Cothron were conducted on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Anderson and Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Brother Jackie Price officiating. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Ricky was born on July 6, 1951, one of five children born to the late Victor Curtis Cothron and Kathryn Gregory Cothron, who survives. As a young man of 20 years old, Ricky joined the Army National Guard, where he served a six-year enlistment. A year later, he joined the United States Army. He received an Honorable Discharge from both branches. On June 21, 2003, he was married to Deborah Sue Lowrance Cothron, who survives. He attended Bethel Family Worship Center and was a member of the Hillsdale Mason Lodge. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a wife, Phyllis Cothron; two daughters, Misty Watson and Rozanne Cothron; and a brother, Kenny Cothron. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Donelle and Monty Story, of Charlotte, TN, DeAnna Williams of Hendersonville, TN, Jessica Frye of Red Boiling Springs, TN, Stephanie and Marcus Wilson of Dalton, GA; Son and Daughter-in-law, Scott and Rachell Lawrance of Cottontown, TN; Brother and Sister-in-law, Joe and Shirley Cothron of Byron, GA; Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Polly and Glen Harold Donoho of Lafayette, TN, Connie and J.R. Williams of Scottsville, KY; Grandchildren, Taylor, Kelsey and Grace Story, Owen and Kayti Wolfe, Britney and Bridget McBride, Cherity Farmer, Esha Wilson, Arwyn, Bella, Wyatt and Shiloh Lawrence.

Veronica Snow, age 14 of Red Boiling Springs, TN passed away Sunday morning, July 8, 2012 at her residence. Funeral Services for Veronica Snow were conducted Tuesday afternoon, July 10, 2012 at 4 p.m. from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs with Jimmy Cook officiating. Interment followed in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Her pallbearers were Jimmy Morgan, Danny Knight, Bobby Etheridge, Kimball Hall, Travis Davis and her dad, Phillip Snow. These men are the ones that helped save her life on June 24, 2001. Veronica was born January 20, 1998 in Sumner County, TN, the daughter of Phillip and Fay Tucker Snow of Red Boiling Springs. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Darell & Wanda Pitcock Tucker. On June 24, 2001, Veronica was in a terrible accident almost drowning. In the eleven years since her accident, she has graced her family with precious smiles and a lot of love. Veronica was a student at Macon County Jr. High and participated in the Locks for Love Program twice donating her beautiful hair to benefit others. God has chosen Veronica to become one of his special angels. Survivors besides her parents, Phillip & Fay include: sisters & their companions, Adrianna Snow & Brandon Gross, Gatlinburg, TN, Samantha Snow & Stephen Crabtree, Red Boiling Springs, paternal grandparents, Sam & Jewel Snow, uncle, Anthony Snow, aunt & uncle, Janie & Jeff Hauskin, cousins, Garron & Kyle Snow, Jordan & Joshua Hauskin all of Lafayette.
