The MCHS Tigers played three more games this week. Two of them were District 9 AA contests.

On January 17th MCHS hosted White House.  Macon jumped out to an early 6-0 lead but the Blue Devils fought their way back to a 13-13 tie at the end of one. Timely 3-point shooting by Tyler Manning and some great press defense helped Macon build a lead. At the half the Tigers led 29-18. The Tigers would hang on and keep a comfortable lead the remainder of the game. Final Score Tigers 52-Blue Devils 40.

Scoring for MCHS were: Tyler Manning 12, Trey McPherson 4, Dallas Grace 9, Brantley Russell 2, Dalton Shrum 11, Aaron Carter 6, Tyler Clark 5, and Dillon McCormick 3. Andrew Kempf played but did not score.

On the 20th the Tigers traveled to Westmoreland. It seems that the Eagles always play their District 9AA rival tough at home. Macon lead after one 14-10, thanks to hot shooting from Dallas Grace. The game seemed to be escalating to a very physical one as the Macon lead was 21-16 at the half. The Eagles weren’t going away and contested every possession. However, Macon proved to be too much for Westmoreland. The Tigers pulled away with a 54-44 win.

Scoring for MCHS were: Manning 6, McPherson 5, Grace 24, Russell 7, Shrum 10, and Clark 2. Kempf and Carter played but did not score.

On the 21st MCHS hosted Gallatin. The Tigers won earlier the season on a last second shot but they hoped to decide the contest tonight much earlier. Shrum scored the first 6 points of the game and it looked as if the Tigers might have an easy evening. However the Green Wave came roaring back. At the end of one the score was Macon 12 Gallatin 11. Really great defense balanced scoring extended the Tiger lead to 24-17 at the half. Trey McPherson got hot in the second half, scoring nine of his game high thirteen points and the Tigers go on to win by a score of 45-32 over the Green Wave.

Scoring were: Manning 8, Kempf 3, McPherson 13, Grace 9, Russell 4, Shrum 6, and Clark 2. Carter and Austin McClard played but did not score.

The Tigers improve to 17-5 overall and first place in District 9 AA with a record of 6-0. Next they host both Hume Fogg on the 24th, and Goodpasture on the 27th.
