The Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs knew they had their hands full with the Friendship Commanders coming to the Dog Pound and bringing their ranking of the third best class A-team in the state with them. The Commanders showed why they enjoy their lofty position and they smacked Red Boiling Springs 67-31.

The Bulldogs played very good early in this game and trailed only 14-11 after the first quarter as Erin Francis and David Williams had 5 of those points between them. The Bulldogs kept up the fight in the second quarter and trailed only 28-19 at half-time. Everyone in the gym was waiting for the Commanders to show their superiority and the third quarter the waiting was over.

The juggernaut started with a 11-1 run and the show that everyone was waiting to see was now on full display. The Commanders would score just about any way a team can by knocking down three pointers and totally dominating the glass and getting out on their fast break while playing defense to almost perfection holding the Bulldogs to only 5 points for the third quarter and Friendship took a insurmountable lead to the fourth quarter 50-24.

Friendship Christian had substituted early and often and the talent level would not drop. The fresh legs would start to take over for the Commanders and the Bulldogs had no answer for this very talented team. Bulldog coach Michael Owens started to clear his bench early in the fourth quarter and by this time in the game Friendship had their third stringers in the game but the scoring continued as the Commanders added 17 points in the final quarter to take this game 67-31.

Ninth grader Nick Deckard was a bright spot for the Bulldogs as he scored 3 points in the quarter and all of the pine tar kids played well. Scoring for the Bulldogs: David Williams-10 points, Erin Francis-5 points, Matt French -7 points, while Cody Dickens and Nick Deckard had 3 points each and Ty Tuck had 4 points. Matt Brockette made 1 point.

The Bulldogs now head to Pickett County on Friday night, before returning home to take on district rival Trousdale County on Tuesday night.
