Macon Softball Has Tough Week PDF Print E-mail

The MCHS Girls Softball team had a tough week. The ladies dropped five games and lost their first district contest.

On March 26th Macon traveled to Goodletsville to face Pope John Paul II. The Tigerettes combined for a total of 11 hits in the game but could only plate one run. In addition Macon committed four fielding errors to contribute to what would become a loss. Chelsea Carter only gives up two earned runs but PJP finds a way to win with a final score of PJP 4 Macon 2.

On March 27th MCHS go to White House for their first district game of the season. Macon would jump on the Lady Devils early and score 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Kaitlin Cartwright, Becca Ballou, and Katie Reid would collect the only three hits of the game. However White House would answer and plate 4 runs of their own which would prove to be just enough. White House picks up the win by a final score of 4-3 handing Macon their first District 9AA loss.

On March 29th the Tigerettes would host the Lady Cats from Greenbrier. The Lady Cats jumped out to an early lead in the first inning with some timely hitting. Macon would tie the game one all in the bottom of the third. Greenbrier would take the lead again in the 5th and MCHS would again tie the game at two all in the sixth. However, the Lady Cats would plate one more run in the top of the seventh and get the win 3-2 over the Tigerettes. Becca Ballou goes 2 for 4 with one RBI, Katherine Goad goes 2 for 3 and scores one run, and Katie Reid hits a solo home run shot in the game.

On the 30th and 31st the Tigerettes played four games in a tournament in Cookeville. On Friday they defeated DeKalb County by a score of 5-4. Mary Belton hit a home run and collected 3 RBIs while Chelsea Carter collected two RBIs of her own. MCHS lost to Pope John Paul for the second time in a week by a final score of 4-7. Chelsea Carter went 3 for 3 with one RBI in the game. On Saturday MCHS met Hixson and won by a score of 8-0. Clara Howser had one home run, scored two runs and collected 3 RBIs while Alyssa Tuck went 2 for 3 and scored two runs herself. Then Macon faced Warren County in elimination play. The Tigerettes fell by a final score of 1-8. Belton, Ballou, and Howser had the only three hits of the game for the Tigerettes

The Tigerettes finish the week with an overall record of 7 wins and 6 losses. This week They are scheduled to host Gordonsville on the 2nd, travel to Westmoreland on the 3rd, host Sycamore on the 5th, and compete in a tournament on the 6th and 7th in Clarksville, TN.
