The 10 game winning streak that the MCHS Baseball team was enjoying came to an abrupt halt this week when they met the District 9AA leaders.

Goodpasture Christian is undefeated in league play and they kept that record intact against the Tigers.

The Cougars came to Lafayette on Monday the 22nd. Goodpasture is one of the best hitting teams that has visited Macon County in the last few seasons. They managed to hang seven runs on the Tigers in the top of the first inning, all with two outs, with terrific timely hitting. They would trade runs in the second inning. The Cougars would score six more in the top of the fifth and would run rule Macon by a final score of 14-1.

Shane Hesson scored the only run with a homer in the second inning. The other two hits of the game were from Jacob McClard and Tyler Kemp. Austin Craighead pitched 4 innings but is credited with the loss. The Tigers did not commit a defensive error in the game.

MCHS traveled to Goodpasture on the 23rd in what hopes to be the last trip to that school. MCHS is moving districts and Goodpasture is dropping to Class A next year. Goodpasture scores eleven runs in the bottom of the first, six in the bottom of the second, and three in the bottom of the third to put a 17-0 thrashing on the Tigers. Macon committed 3 errors in the game.

The Tigers managed only two hits in the game. Austin Taft and Austin Craighead collected those hits.

Macon finished the week on Thursday the 25th by traveling to Red Boiling Springs. Coach Dziekiewicz at RBS is playing with some young players who will get better and do play hard. Macon finally got their bats hot again and they collected 19 hits in the game. Final score MCHS 21 RBS 3.

Ryan Craighead went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs and brother Austin Craighead went 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs. Shane Hesson, Johnny Brown, and Ryan Craighead all hit home runs. Bulldog Spencer Tuck went 2 for 2 with 1 RBI and Bailey Chapman collected and RBI as well.

Macon County finishes the regular season in third place in District 9AA. They await the loser of a rained out series between Greenbrier and Westmoreland for the District play in on Thursday May 2nd. The District 9AA Tournament is scheduled for the following week May 6-8.
