Last Thursday night Red Boiling Springs closed out their 2013 Jr. High Football season with a hard fought victory over the boys from Clinton County Ky. by a final score of 22-16.

The outcome of this game went down to the final seconds when the Bulldogs stopped the Kentucky kids on downs at the Bulldog 14 yard line.

Clinton County drew first blood early in the first quarter as they used their ground game to take the ball all the way down to the 4 yard line and scored on third and 4. The 2 pt. conversion was good for an 8-0 lead and a stunned Bulldog crowd was stunned by the way the Bulldogs got pushed around.

Early in the second quarter the Bulldogs started to move the ball on the ground with Logan Hewitt and Jamie Ruiz. Jordan Powell took the ball into the endzone from 6 yards out and Logan Hewitt tacked on the 2 pt. conversion to tie this game up at 8 points each. Clinton County came right back down the field and with runs of 33 yards and 37 yards they managed to score with only 40 seconds left on the clock. The 2 pt. conversion was good and the Bulldogs had just 40 seconds left on the clock in the second quarter to see if they could score before intermission.
The Clinton kick-off landed in the hands of Logan Hewitt who broke clear at the 50 yard line and took the ball all the way down to the 21 yard line. The Bulldogs used their time outs and got the ball down to the 3 yard line. Jordan Powell put 6 points on the scoreboard for the Bulldogs with only .9 seconds left. The 2 pt. conversion failed and Clinton County took a 16-14 lead to the dressing room at halftime.

Turnovers and penalties stopped both teams from mounting any serious scoring threats in the second half but a big play in this game came in the third quarter when the Bulldogs stopped Clinton County deep in Bulldog territory on downs. This was a big lift for the home team.
Midway thru the 3rd quarter the Bulldogs finally got their running game cranked up once more. Jordan Powell takes a handoff from Lee Pruitt and bounces off 2 tacklers and 13 yards later the Bulldogs had a 20-16 lead and with the 2 pt. conversion good by Logan Hewitt. The Bulldogs had a 22-16 lead which turned out to be enough points to take this victory home on Eighth Grade night. The 4th quarter was quiet and the Bulldogs were able to run out the clock thanks to a fake punt first down conversion by Jamie Ruiz.
