RBS Wins Dog Fight Over Clay County PDF Print E-mail

The Red Boiling Springs High School Basketball teams hosted Clay County on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, for two games that were close throughout the entirety of each challenge.


In the girls game... The RBS Lady Bulldogs jumped ahead of Clay County in the opening quarter 15-12, and was able to hold a slim lead throughout the three remaining quarters for a 49-46 victory over CCHS.


Heather Jenkins led the Red & Grey Lady Bulldogs to victory with 16 points and four 3-pointers, followed by Layce Colter with 15 points, Morgan Burgener with eight points, Marina Evans with four points, Mackenzie Painter with one 3-pt. shot, and Katie Hix with three points.


In the boys game... The RBS Bulldogs led the opening period 17-14, and then trailed 33-30 going into the halftime break. Isaiah Washington’s lay-up late in the third quarter, inched Red Boiling Springs back in the lead 46-44.


In the last period, the Red & Grey Bulldogs were able to eject four top scorers for CCHS, and added 26 points to their lead to claim their sixth consecutive victory for this season, with a 79-70 win over Clay County.


Wes Grace led the team to victory with 31 points and three 3-pointers, followed by Andrew Mullinix and Allen Kirk with 14 points each, Isaiah Washington with 10 points, Shelton Watson with seven points, and Jordan Grace with three points.

 
MCHS Thumps Yellow Jackets PDF Print E-mail

The Macon County High School Basketball teams traveled to Trousdale County on November 23, 2010 to face Hartsville’s Yellow Jackets.


In the girls game... The Tigerettes opened the challenge with a 17-12 lead and by halftime, Macon County had stretched their advantage to 35-16. Dominating the last two quarters, the Blue & White Tigerettes picked up their third win with a final score of 63-29.


Tigerette Katie Reid scored 17 points to lead Macon County (3-0) past Trousdale County (1-3). Reid was followed by Kelsey Gregory with 10 points, Katelyn Bean with eight points, Kailyn Brooks with seven points, Calamity Jane Coley with six points, Sarah Belton, Katie Beth Meador, and Terra Pryor with four points each, and Whitney Wilburn with three points.


In the boys game... The Tigers exploded the first quarter to lead 16-9, however the hosting Yellow Jackets picked up their pace to lead 23-21 going into the halftime break.


Macon County returned in the third quarter to regain the lead 36-29.


The fight was on in the final period, with baskets being answered in both goals.


Trousdale came out ahead in scoring for the last period (13-10), however Macon County’s third quarter push helped the Blue & White return home with a 46-42 win.


Dallas Grace scored 20 points to lead the Tigers (3-0) past the Yellow Jackets (0-4). Grace was followed by Trey McPherson and Brantley Russell with six points each, Zack Billenstein and Tyler Manning with five points each, Shawn Kemp with two points, and Aaron Carter and Andrew Kempf with one point each.


Macon County is scheduled to host Gordonsville on November 30, 2010. Game time 6 p.m.


The MCHS Basketball teams also plan to host Gallatin High School on December 3, 2010. Game time 6 p.m.

The Red Boiling Springs High School Basketball teams traveled to Hooptown on November 23, 2010, to face the teams of Family Christian Academy.


In the girls game... The Lady Bulldogs opened the challenge with a 14-10 lead over FCA, and by halftime, RBS held a huge 36-12 advantage. At the end of the fourth quarter, Red Boiling Springs picked up their fifth consecutive win by a final score of 71-31.


Morgan Burgener and Layce Colter led the team to victory with 18 points each, followed by Katie Hix with eight points, Mackenzie Painter seven points, Heather Jenkins seven points, Kalisha Lynch six points, Marina Evans five points, and Hannah Hollis with two points.


In the boys game... The Bulldogs led the opening quarter with a 14-10 advantage, and by halftime the Red & Grey extended their lead 37-25. Dominating the last two rounds, RBS claimed their fifth consecutive win over FCA by a final score of 72-47.

Wes Grace led the team to victory with a total of 29 points, followed by Allen Kirk with 14 points, Isaiah Washington with 13 points, Shelton Watson and Jordan Meador with five points each, and Jordan Grace and Andrew Mullinix with three points each.


Red Boiling Springs will host Clay County on November 30, 2010. Game time 6 p.m.

 
MCHS Dominates East Robertson to Stand 2-0 for Season PDF Print E-mail

The Macon County High School Basketball teams traveled to East Robertson on November 19, 2010, for their second game of the season.


In the girls game... Macon County opened the challenge 12-10, and then led 31-23 before the halftime break.  
The Tigerettes continued to dominate the court throughout the remainder of the game, defeating East Robertson 72-44 for their second win of the season.


Katie Reid led the team with 23 points, followed by Calamity Jane Coley with 14 points, Kailyn Brooks 11 points, Katelyn Bean seven points, Kelsey Gregory six points, Terra Pryor three points, and Sarah Belton, Katie Beth Meador, Michaela Thompson and Whitney Wilburn added two points each in the win.


In the boys game... The Tigers were able to make a second-half comeback to defeat East Robertson 63-60.
East Robertson led 24-16 in the opening quarter and continued to leave the Tigers trailing 34-28 at halftime.


The Tigers returned after the break and out-scored the Indians 45-41.


The final quarter was intense with baskets being answered by each team.


East Robertson led the fourth quarter in scoring adding 19, and allowing 18 for the Tigers, however Macon County’s third quarter push help the Tigers to claim their second win by a final score of 63-60.


Dallas Grace and Zack Billenstien each scored 18 points to lead the Tigers to victory, followed by Trey McPherson with nine points, Brantley Russell eight points, Shawn Kemp five points, Tyler Manning three points, and Mic Wise with  two points.


With the win the Tigers improve to 2-0 for the 2010 season.


Macon County will host the Gordonsville Tigers on Nov. 30. Game time 6 p.m.

 
RBS Jr. High Hosts Trousdale in Monday Night Games PDF Print E-mail

The Red Boiling Springs Junior High School Basketball teams welcomed Trousdale County’s Jim Satterfield Middle School on Monday, November 22, 2010 for two challenges that did not end in the Red & Grey’s favor.

In the girls game... The Lady Bulldogs were trailing by four points at the end of the opening period, (9-4) however by halftime, Trousdale County increased their lead to 22-6.

By the end of the fourth quarter, the visiting Lady Yellow Jackets had claimed the win by a final score of 39-17.

Kaitlyn McCarter led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with eight points, followed by McKinzie Hix with six points, Kristen Stacey with two points, and Allysea Wilbom with one point.

In the boys game... The visiting Yellow Jackets led 12-6 in the opening period, however the Bulldogs stepped up their game before the halftime break to knot the challenge at 17 each.

A pair of three’s and four lay-ups helped Trousdale County regain the lead 31-26, before claiming a 45-34 win at the final buzzer.

Bulldog Dallas Greanead led the team in scoring with 15 points, followed by Alex Mullinix with 11 points, Zane Roberts and Skyler Holden each nailed one 3-pt. shot, and Nick Deckard added two points.


RBS will host Westmoreland on December 2, 2010.
