With the days getting longer and summertime activities in full swing, the Lafayette United Methodist Church hosted their annual Vacation Bible School last week, where kids ages three through twelve, enjoyed a faith journey with the word of Jesus, in a pleasant and spiritual atmosphere.

On July the 4th, we will celebrate America’s 226 years as an independent nation and honor those who fought to keep us free.

Unfortunately several of the older cemeteries in Macon County have been forgotten and the final resting place of many of our ancestors, are no longer even recognizable.

Roughly sixteen million Americans served in World War II, and with only a little more than two million alive today, 101 of these former soldiers from Middle Tennessee received a thank you for their patriotic efforts decades ago, when the Music City Honor Flight flew these remarkable men to the nation’s capitol last week, honoring their contribution to the land of the free and home of the brave.
