Louetta Lankford, age 88, of the Difficult Community passed away Sat. Nov. 22, 2008. Funeral services were from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted Mon. Nov. 24. Officiating was Bro. Jackie Dillehay and burial was in Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens. The daughter of the late Arville Banks Woodard and Clara Belle Martin Woodard, she was born Martha Louetta Woodard in the McClures Bend Community on October 12, 1920 and was one of tree children. Her only brother, Thomas Bradley Woodard, preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2008 at the age of 83 and she was also preceded in death by her only sister, Lela Woodard Puckett. She was married in Defeated Creek on July 7, 1940 to Nelson Ray Lankford of Difficult. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1990. Mrs. Lankford was saved at age fourteen at the Cornwells Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She retired from the former Carthage Shirt Corporation in 1983 where she had worked for over thirty years. Surviving her are two sons, Lillard Ray Lankford and wife Linda of Difficult, Larry Lankford and Wife Donna of Nashville; five grandchildren, Julie Avarado, Anthony Lankford, John Lankford, Tammy Brucato, David Lankford; eleven great-grandchildren.
