Dorothy “Dot” Jean Shasteen Shaw, 75

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Jean Shasteen Shaw, age 75, of Westmoreland, Tenn., passed away Mon., Feb. 16, 2009 at  Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, FL. Funeral services for Mrs. Shaw took place  Fri., Feb. 20  from the Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home, with Bro. Chris Roberts officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Thomas E. Brown, Fred Tuttle, Charles D. Shaw, Kenneth Steele, Johnny Slayton and Steve Ewalt. Honorary pallbearers were here grandsons. She is survived by her husband Veldon D. Shaw (married 36 years) of Westmoreland; son Thomas E. & (Ginger) Brown of Smyrna, Tenn; daughter Kelly Carmon Tuttle of Gallatin; brother Paul T. Shasteen of Winchester; step-children Faye & (Kenneth) Steele of Westmoreland, Ann & (Johnny) Slayton of Gallatin, Ruth N. & (Steve) Ewalt of Indian Head, MD and Charles D. & (Kris) Shaw of Westmoreland; grandchildren Thomas E. Brown II of Murfreesboro, Rebecca C. & (Ben) Guritz of Ft. Greely, AK and Phillip Mitchell Tuttle of Gallatin; great granddaughter: Janey Lola Camille Guritz of Ft. Greely, AK;  14 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; niece Paula & (Michael) Scott of Winchester; 3 great nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry T. Jr. and Mary Underhill Shasteen and son John Carmon, III. Mrs. Shaw graduated from Franklin County High School and went on the graduate from the Saint Thomas School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Mrs. Shaw was retired from the South Central Bell.  She attended New Hope Church.
