Funeral Services for Jose AleJandro Mendiola, age 17, of Lafayette, Tenn., were conducted on Tues., Feb. 17, 2009 from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Jose Rodrigez officiating. Enrique Mendiola, Enrique Mendiola, Jr., Oscar Garcia, Juan Mendiola, Jesus Mendiola, and Germain Mendiola served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the West Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials in the form of donations be made to the Family Funeral Fund. Those may be made at the funeral home. Jose passed away on Sat., Feb. 14, 2009 at Alive Hospice at Saint Thomas in Nashville with his family by his side. A native of Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas, Mexico, he was born on Dec. 1, 1991, one of three siblings born to Enrique and Carmen Ramon Mendiola, who survive and live in Lafayette. Jose has been battling the horrible disease of Muscular Dystrophy for most of his 17 years. The loving care of his parents and family allowed him to live beyond the expectation of his physicians. His mother devoted all her time to his care while his father worked and provided for his family. He was a 10th grade student at Macon County High School, attending when his health allowed. He loved and had a collection of all kinds of model cars, loved drawing, video games, watching hockey and football. He was very good at drawing cars. He attended the Hispanic Church of God on Akersville Road. In addition to his parents, he is survived by, brother, Enrique Mendiola, Jr., Lafayette, Tenn.; sister, Vivana (Ceasar) Munoz, Nashville, Tenn.; paternal grandparents, Enrique and Helen Mendiola, Mexico; maternal grandparents, Ruben and Bartola Herrera, Mexico; and nephew, Elija Ceasar Munoz, Nashville, Tenn.
