Jr. Tigers 0-2 After Visit to Westmoreland

Westmoreland routed visiting Macon County 26-0 in a middle school football game on Tuesday, Aug. 17 at the Eagle Stadium.
Both of the Eagles touchdowns came in the second quarter, which gave the Eagles a 20-0 halftime lead, which was a task for either team, considering that the entire first half and most of the third quarter was played in a steady rain.
The Tigers received the kickoff to start the second half and kept the ball for nearly the entire third period before turning it over on downs at the Eagles’ 11-yard line with 32.3 seconds remaining in the quarter. Macon County denied Westmoreland any attempts at scoring in the third period.
Westmoreland would polish off the night with one more touchdown, when Michael Evans returned an interception 30 yards into the end zone with 1:17 left in the fourth quarter.
In the contest, Macon County attempted nine passes, completing four, and Westmoreland attempted one successful pass. Macon recorded 33 offensive plays for 79 yards, and Westmoreland marked 28 for a total of 210. No fumbles were recorded on either team. Westmoreland accumulated 7 penalties for 60 yards, and Macon County marked 2 penalties for 10 yards.
For Macon County, running back Tanner Lowhorn led Macon County with 67 yards on 13 rushing attempts; quarterback Logan Grace made 4 of 8 attempts, and had 5 rushes for 8 yards. Defensively, Brett Davis made 12 tackles and 2 tackles for loss.
Macon County will travel to Cannon County on Thursday, Aug. 26.
