RBS vs. Watertown

The Red Boiling Springs Junior High School football team hosted the Purple Tigers of Watertown on August 24, 2010, and was down 22-0 by halftime.
Returning after the break, with 4:15 remaining in the 3rd quarter, Bulldog Skyler Holden ran the ball 19 yards for the touchdown, making a mark for RBS in the game.
The Purple Tigers answered with a 59-yard touchdown of their own, to lead 30-6, however the Bulldogs did not throw in the towel.
With 3:56 left in the fourth quarter, Wesley Davis capped off a 73-yard drive, with a 10-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs. Skyler Holden rushed to the end zone for the two point conversion.
As time ticked away on the clock, Watertown returned home with a 30-14 victory over Red Boiling Springs.
Rushing for Red Boiling Springs: Skyler Holden, 8 rushes for 70 yards and a touchdown; Wesley Davis, 5 rushes for 15 yards and a touchdown; Bailey had 2 rushes for 11 yards; Alex Mullinix had 2 rushes for 4 yards; Tyler Carlyle, 2 rushes for 9 yards; Brince Crouch had one rush for 4 yards.
Alex Mullinix was 4 of 9 passing for 44 yards and an interception; Wesley Davis caught one pass for 30 yards; Brince Crouch, 3 receptions for 16 yards.
The Bulldogs ended the game with 138 yards of total offense after having zero yards of offense in the first half.
With the loss, Red Boiling Springs is 0-3 on the season. The Bulldogs next game will be at Burkes Middle School on September 2nd.
MC vs. Cannon

The Macon County Junior High School Tiger football team traveled to Cannon County last Thursday night, August 26 and dominated the entire contest to return with a 28-6 victory.
Tanner Lowhorn achieved the first run into the endzone, by a Brett Davis block that opened up a hole to run through. The 57-yard touchdown, was doubled in the second quarter, when quarterback Logan Grace handed the ball to Gene Carman IV, who escaped a tackle and rushed 26 yards into the endzone. Davis achieved the extra points to lead the Lions 14-0.
On the lions last draw in the third period, Lowhorn intercepted their pass at the 40-yard line. The Tigers worked their way through several downs to achieve the one-yard line, however time would not allow the Tigers to complete another play, before the halftime break.
Cannon County kicked off the second half and the ball hit the 28-yard line. Davis then scampered 72-yards to strike quickly. Tigers now lead 20-0.
Macon County forced a turnover late in the third period and on a 1&10, Grace faked a keeper to pass the ball to Carman, who walked into the endzone. Grace achieved the two-pt. conversion, to lead the Tigers 28-0.
The Lions achieved a 43-yard placement from the kick return, however Tiger Cole Cliburn intercepted the pass, and put Macon Co. once more into scoring position at the 20-yard line.
The Tigers saw another scoring opportunity threatened by the game clock, and once they got down to the four, the buzzer sounded, nulling any further scoring attempts for that quarter.
Cannon County was finally allowed to score after Macon County turned the ball over in the fourth quarter, and the Lions capitalized on a fourth down to make their mark in the game with a 10-yard touchdown. As the game concluded Macon County returned home with a 28-6 victory over Cannon County.
The Tigers are scheduled to travel to Livingston on September 2.
