MCHS Makes Great 2nd Half Comeback in 35-27 Defeat by Commanders of Friendship Christian

The events resembled last week’s challenge with Trousdale County, when the Tigers were faced with a 20+ point deficit, to comeback fighting late in the game, with the chance of possibly knotting the game.

Friendship scored their first points early in the game, and despite six FC fumbles, and strong offensive plays on the Tigers side of the ball, Macon County was left still trailing by nine points (28-19) at the end of the third quarter.
At five minutes in the final period, Macon County elected to punt and the Commander receiver carried the ball to the six-yard line, later being topped off to lead the Tigers 34-19.

Time quickly dwindled on the clock, leaving Macon County scrambling to recover. With 14.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Macon County’s Jacob Salyer caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Dallas Grace, and the Tiger team achieved the two-point conversion to trail by eight mere points.

Macon County tried an on-side kick, and for a brief moment, it appeared the Tigers might have been able to keep the game alive, however the good try by Tyler Stein failed. Friendship Christian took possession to down the ball, ending the game 35-27.

Macon County is now 0-2 this season, as they now prepare to face Goodpasture at home, September 3, at 7 p.m. Macon County High School is sponsoring a Gator Raffle. Tickets are 3 for $25, and can be purchased at the game.
