MCJHS Football Finds Success in Last Game of Season Against Fentress

The Macon County Junior High School Tigers hosted Fentress County for their last game of the season on September 28, 2010 at Pat Parker Field.
Before the game began, eighth grade football players and cheerleaders, accompanied their parents onto the field to be recognized for their dedication to the Tiger Football Program.
The following eight graders were recognized during the ceremony: Katie Bray, daughter of Ben and Trena Bray; Courtney Brooks, daughter of Eric and Tonia Brooks; Bethany and Brittany Brown, daughters of Jeff and Angie Brown; Gage Carr, son of Jim and Wanda Carr; Kole Cliburn, son of Todd and Mendy Cliburn; Ryan Anne Cothron, daughter of Bryan and Anneleise Cothron; Curtis Cox, son of Scotty and Kim Cox; Brett Davis, son of Stacey and Jackie Pedigo; Cole Dixon, son of Leah and Chad Swindle; Travis Eller, son of Tim and Karen Eller; Kolt Evans, son of Junior and Gina Evans; Allon Gentry, son of Rhonda and Dewayne Gentry; Beth Greenhalgh, daughter of Tim and Rhonda Greenhalgh, Chris Gunter, grandson of Betty and Floyd Rittenberry; Kevin King, son of Kevin and Joyce King; Adam Kirby, son of Bruce Kirby and Kim Barerra; Brandon Noles, son of Jennifer Jones; Nick Owen, son of Michael and Kathy Duffer; Andrew Reagan, son of Patrick Reagan (Bonnie) and Veronica Young (Bobby); Taylor Spivey, daughter of Jeff and Tonya Wheeley and Chad Spivey; Dale Turner, son of Shawn and Jennifer Turner; and Katherine Williston, daughter of Pete and Martha Williston.
As Macon County stepped onto the grid-iron dressed with black uniforms and blue helmets, a sense of victory could be felt among the crowd of supporters, especially as the Tigers began to dominate their Fentress opponent early in the first quarter.
An endzone rush by Brett Davis allowed Macon County to be the first to mark the board in the opening quarter. In the second period, quarterback Logan Grace sailed a complete pass to Davis, who picked up 15 yards and a Tiger first down, however three consecutive tries through the middle of the line and an incomplete pass, forced the ball back over to Fentress County.
Macon County stood ready to attack, and on a 3&9 Purple Crush fumble, Gage Carr recovered their opponent’s blunder and returned it to the endzone for the Tigers second score of the night. Macon now leads 12-0.
With .8 seconds left before the halftime break, the Purple Crush notched their only score of the game on a 13-yard rush to the endzone. The 2-pt. conversion was good, Macon 12, Fentress 8.
On the ensuing kick off, Tiger Tanner Lowhorn took the football 62-yards in for the touchdown, Macon now leads 18-8 at halftime.
On the final play of the third quarter, Cole Cliburn intercepted a Fentress County pass, giving the ball back to Macon County. On the first play of the last period, Dale Turner scored from 38-yards out. The 2-pt. conversion was good.
Final game score, Macon County 26, York 8. Macon County ended the 2010 season with a final record of 3-5.
