Story By: Misty Green

The Macon County High School Tigers were on fire last Friday night, October 8, 2010 as they traveled to face Dekalb County.

Tiger fans witnessed their best game yet as the Macon County boys dominated each quarter of the entire contest.
To start off the battle, a rush by Zack Shockley early in the first quarter marked the first points of the night, followed by a successful kick by Carson Cook. Quarterback Dallas Grace doubled the score late in the opener, to lead 14-0.

Shockley and the Tiger team opened the second quarter with their third touchdown of the night. Dekalb finally got on the board three minutes later, however Shockley and Jessee Newberry ran in two additional scores. With 0.13 left in the first half, a Dekalb County pass at the 38-yard line landed into the hands of Dallas Grace, who returned it to the endzone for a 42-7 lead at halftime.

Tiger Shane Hesson scored the only touchdown in the third quarter, and Carson Cook’s extra-point kick was good, Macon leads 49-7 over Dekalb.

In the final period of play, a rush to the endzone by Tiger center William Bandy ended Macon County’s list of scorers in the visiting blowout. Dekalb would eventually mark one more run to their score before the final whistle would blow, Macon County 55, Dekalb 14.

Macon County will host White House on October 15, travel to Livingston Academy on October 22, and play their final game at home against Westmoreland on October 29, 2010.
