Macon County Tigers Defeat Livingston Academy Under Friday Night Lights

The Macon County High School Tigers traveled to Livingston Academy on Friday, October 22, and returned home with a huge 34-24 victory.

The Tigers drew first blood with a touchdown by Tyler Drown and a successful PAT by Carson Cook.

Leading off the second period, LA scored a 54-yard touchdown, followed by a run from Tiger Zack Shockley. LA was able to complete two more touchdowns before the halftime buzzer sounded, regaining the lead at 21-13.

Macon County scored early in the third quarter with a touchdown and two-point conversion by Zach Shockley. This run knotted the game for the next eight minutes, until Livingston Academy nailed a 36-yard field goal to have a 24-21 advantage.

The Tigers had a new mind-set, determining defeat would not come easy, and they picked up their game on both sides of the ball.

Opening the fourth quarter, Tiger  Dallas Grace ran a quarterback keeper through the middle of the line of scrimmage for a touchdown and a 27-23 lead changeover.

The Blue & White defense was unmovable and eliminated any chance for LA to slip through. With 1:50 left in the contest, Macon County had one last word with their opponent and scored a 17-yard touchdown by Tyler Drown. The PAT by Carson Cook was good, allowing the Tigers to return home with their fourth victory of the 2010 season.

The Tigers have one opponent remaining in the regular season, the Eagles of Westmoreland. This game is scheduled to be played at home on October 29, with kick-off at 7 p.m.

The senior Tiger football players and cheerleader will be honored at 5:30 p.m.
