Macon County Junior High School Annual Blue vs. White Basketball Challenge
The Macon County Junior High School Basketball teams held their pre-season Blue vs White basketball game on Monday, October 25, 2010.
Blue vs. White Boys Game

For the boys game… The Blue team exploded the first round with seven points by Trace McPherson, Hunter Williams, and Brett Davis, denying the White team any points.
In the second period, the White team got on the board with points from Jed Coley and Nick Hill, however the Blue team added ten points to their lead by McPherson, Trevor Swindle, Matt Austin, and Matt Hudson, giving them a 17-6 advantage.
The Blue team dominated the third quarter with plays by Brett Davis, Hunter Williams, and Jesse Gregory. White team member #44 Jed Coley added two points for his team. Third period score, Blue 25, White 8.
In the final round, White team’s #44 Jed Coley and #20 Evan Perrigo added four points, followed by Blue’s #12 Matt Austin with a lay-up and #34 Derrick Harris with one free-throw. With .45 seconds left in the game, White team member #34 Sebastain Brawner nailed a two-pt. shot. Blue’s #15 Kristopher Boone answered with two points of his own. The last point of the game came from a free-throw from White’s Evan Perrigo, thus giving a 30-15 victory to the Blue team.
For the girls game… Each quarter held six action-packed minutes where the Macon County girls raced each other to rack up the most points.
In the first period, White team member #34 Leah Anderson nailed the first two points, followed by a 3-pt. play by Blue’s #54 Emilee Harris. Two points were then added by Blue’s Marissa Owens to take the lead at 5-2. With .55 seconds left on the game clock, a play by White’s Brandi Garmon knotted the game a five points each. A Blue team foul allowed White’s Abi Welch to take the lead. Three seconds before the buzzer the White team picked up a set of free throws by Leah Anderson to take over the lead 7-6.
The game stayed close throughout the second quarter with each team pulling in six points, White leads 13-12.
In the third period, the White team stretched their lead to 21-14 with six points made by Reese Shrum and two points by Brandi Garmon. Emilee Harris scored the only two points for Blue.
In the final round… the Blue team scored five points by Briley Driver and Harris, however the White team’s Cassidy Brooks nailed a 3-pt. shot, coupled with a pair of deuces by Reese Shrum to grab the win. White 28, Blue 19.
