MCHS Tigers vs. David Lipscomb in TSSAA Blue Cross Bowl State Play-offs

Class 4A first round of the Blue Cross Bowl TSSAA State Play-offs held Macon County (5-5) to be paired with David Lipscomb (7-3), and were scheduled to face off on Friday, November 5, 2010 in Nashville.
The Macon County Tigers were able to strike the scoreboard early in the first quarter with a 17-yard rush by Zack Shockley. The PAT by Carson Cook was good. David Lipscomb’s Mustangs answered with two scores of their own to lead 14-7 at the buzzer.
Macon County prevented the Mustangs from scoring their 3rd touchdown until 1:02 in the second quarter, and then were eager to answer before the halftime break.
With 0:06 seconds on the game clock, a pass from Tiger QB Dallas Grace fell in the arms of Zack Shockley for a 12-yard touchdown. Cook’s PAT was good. Macon trails 21-14. David Lipscomb was the only team to post points in the third quarter.
Macon County came back to the fourth quarter fired up and scored an early run by Tyler Drown. Cook’s third PAT was good, Macon County slimming the trail 28-21.
Needing seven more points to force an overtime period, Macon County picked up a first down at the 18-yard line with two minutes remaining in the game. The Tigers were able to make it to the 13, however they could not sustain the drive and had to turn the ball back to their opponent. David Lipscomb would not score on their last possession, but would claim a 28-21 win over Macon County.
