MCHS Thumps Yellow Jackets

The Macon County High School Basketball teams traveled to Trousdale County on November 23, 2010 to face Hartsville’s Yellow Jackets.

In the girls game… The Tigerettes opened the challenge with a 17-12 lead and by halftime, Macon County had stretched their advantage to 35-16. Dominating the last two quarters, the Blue & White Tigerettes picked up their third win with a final score of 63-29.

Tigerette Katie Reid scored 17 points to lead Macon County (3-0) past Trousdale County (1-3). Reid was followed by Kelsey Gregory with 10 points, Katelyn Bean with eight points, Kailyn Brooks with seven points, Calamity Jane Coley with six points, Sarah Belton, Katie Beth Meador, and Terra Pryor with four points each, and Whitney Wilburn with three points.

In the boys game… The Tigers exploded the first quarter to lead 16-9, however the hosting Yellow Jackets picked up their pace to lead 23-21 going into the halftime break.

Macon County returned in the third quarter to regain the lead 36-29.

The fight was on in the final period, with baskets being answered in both goals.

Trousdale came out ahead in scoring for the last period (13-10), however Macon County’s third quarter push helped the Blue & White return home with a 46-42 win.

Dallas Grace scored 20 points to lead the Tigers (3-0) past the Yellow Jackets (0-4). Grace was followed by Trey McPherson and Brantley Russell with six points each, Zack Billenstein and Tyler Manning with five points each, Shawn Kemp with two points, and Aaron Carter and Andrew Kempf with one point each.

Macon County is scheduled to host Gordonsville on November 30, 2010. Game time 6 p.m.

The MCHS Basketball teams also plan to host Gallatin High School on December 3, 2010. Game time 6 p.m.
