RBS Wins Dog Fight Over Clay County

The Red Boiling Springs High School Basketball teams hosted Clay County on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, for two games that were close throughout the entirety of each challenge.

In the girls game… The RBS Lady Bulldogs jumped ahead of Clay County in the opening quarter 15-12, and was able to hold a slim lead throughout the three remaining quarters for a 49-46 victory over CCHS.

Heather Jenkins led the Red & Grey Lady Bulldogs to victory with 16 points and four 3-pointers, followed by Layce Colter with 15 points, Morgan Burgener with eight points, Marina Evans with four points, Mackenzie Painter with one 3-pt. shot, and Katie Hix with three points.

In the boys game… The RBS Bulldogs led the opening period 17-14, and then trailed 33-30 going into the halftime break. Isaiah Washington’s lay-up late in the third quarter, inched Red Boiling Springs back in the lead 46-44.

In the last period, the Red & Grey Bulldogs were able to eject four top scorers for CCHS, and added 26 points to their lead to claim their sixth consecutive victory for this season, with a 79-70 win over Clay County.

Wes Grace led the team to victory with 31 points and three 3-pointers, followed by Andrew Mullinix and Allen Kirk with 14 points each, Isaiah Washington with 10 points, Shelton Watson with seven points, and Jordan Grace with three points.
