Bulldogs Rally Falls Short in OT Loss to Aaron Academy
By: Misty Green
The Red Boiling Springs High School Bulldogs might have three strikes on their record, however during each of the games they have lost, the Bulldogs were only outplayed during each of the overtime periods, which says a lot about the magnitude of this group of boys.
On December 14, 2010, RBS traveled to Aaron Academy.
In the boys game… the Bulldogs led the opening round 14-11, and by halftime, Aaron Academy had inched their way forward to trail 24-22.
By the time the third quarter buzzer had sounded, the Bulldogs had a one-point advantage 36-35 over their opponent. In the fourth quarter Aaron put in one point over the Bulldogs to tie the game and force an overtime period.
In the OT quarter, Aaron stepped up their defense and outscored RBS 10-3 for a 57-50 victory.
Wes Grace led the Bulldogs with 17 points, followed by Shelton Watson with 15 points, Allen Kirk and Isaiah Washington with eight points each, and Andrew Mullinix with two points.
In the girls game… The Lady Bulldogs opened the travelling challenge with a two-point advantage over Aaron Academy (18-16).
By the end of the second quarter, Red Boiling Springs marked 12 points, and allowed the host a low two-points, to lead 30-18 by the halftime break. The baskets made by each team in the third quarter was close with RBS putting in nine and Aaron marking ten.
Aaron Academy’s girls led the final round 16-15, however the second quarter Lady Bulldog push was enough to seal their eleventh consecutive victory by a final score of 54-44.
