MCHS Tigers Defeat Gordonsville & Drop Hendersonville by 2 pts.

The Macon County High School Tigers traveled to Gordonsville on December 10, 2010 and returned with their fifth win of the season.

The Tigers opened the game 20-9 over the hosting Tigers and continued their lead into the halftime break, 34-21.
Gordonsville tried to make a comeback in the third quarter adding 16 points to Macon County’s 10, however MCHS rallied to the final buzzer to claim a 55-51 second victory over GHS.

Dallas Grace led the team with 19 points, followed by Zack Billenstien with 14 points, Tyler Manning with 12 points, Shawn Kemp with five points, Trey McPherson with three points, and Mic Wise and Andrew Kempf with one point each.

On December 14, the MCHS Tigers hit the road once more to take on the boys of Hendersonville.

The hosting opponent lead the first half of the battle against Macon County with a 28-15 advantage at halftime.

The Tigers inched forward to trail 33-24 at the end of the third quarter. In the final period, Macon County was able to dominate the court 19-12, but a basket by Hendersonville’s Elijah Howell with three seconds left on the game clock gave the host (4-4) the win over Macon County (5-2).

Tyler Manning led the Tigers in points with 14 points, followed by Dallas Grace with eight points, Trey McPherson with five points, Zack Billenstien, Brantley Russell, and Mic Wise with four points each, Shawn Kemp with one three-point shot, and Aaron Carter with one point.
