RBS Bulldogs Take Third Place in Monticello’s All A’s Shootout

The Red Boiling Springs Bulldog Basketball team traveled to Monticello, Kentucky, December 20-21, to participate in the All A’s Shootout Tournament.

From the Bulldogs championship performance during last year’s Monticello tournament, the RBS boys were surely remembered as they opened this year’s battle with a 27-14 advantage before halftime over Leslie County. Their opponent could not compete with the Bulldog team, and was routed to the losers bracket with a final score of 66-49.

Wes Grace led the Bulldogs (9-3) to victory with 37 points, including three 3-pointers, followed by Allen Kirk with eight points, Andrew Mullinix with seven points, including two 3-pointers, Jordan Meador with six points, including one 3-pointer, and Shelton Watson with three points.

In the semi-final round, the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs were seated against Bath County High School, December 21, 2010.

In the first quarter of play, Bath County had slipped past the Bulldogs 20-17, but before the halftime break, RBS had returned to now lead 39-37.

Coming back in the third quarter, Bath County put in 18 points, and allowed the Bulldogs to record ten to lead 55-49 at the buzzer. During the final quarter, the boys of Bath came alive and dominated the court 19-9, claiming the win with a final score of 74-58.

Red Boiling Springs was led by Wes Grace with 23 points, including two 3-pointers, followed by Allen Kirk with 15 points, Andrew Mullinix with nine points, including two 3-pointers, Isaiah Washington with five points, Shelton Watson with four points, and Jordan Grace with two points.

Allen County opened the first quarter 19-13, but before the halftime break, the RBS Bulldogs returned to knot the game 30-30.

The Bulldogs dominated the third quarter 15-9, and after the final period, RBS had routed Allen County to claim a 57-52 victory for Red Boiling Springs (10-4) and a third place standing in the tournament.

RBS Bulldog Allen Kirk led the Red & Grey to victory with a total of 16 points, followed by Wes Grace with 15 points, Andrew Mullinix with 12 points, Shelton Watson with nine points, Jordan Meador with three points, and David Williams with two points.
